Since my last project I have a lot of crazy images in my mind Im trying to put into practise before they fade away.
I came up with this piece very spontaneously but didnt anticipate how difficult and time consuming it would become.
Some have mentioned the planet rings in my last work looked "too flat" - keeping that in mind I tried various approaches, as assumed perspective was the crucial point.
Must have tried dozens of ring formations and hope Ill be more successful next time.
Regarding the planets I chose the easiest way there is:
* Mr-Frenzy mr-frenzy published a set of planets recently and they were perfect to work with - so credit goes to him.
* The upper right planet is taken from the Sci-Fi 3D website: "Coruscant 2" map by Tobias Schmidt (a.k.a. Zorbi) - another credit to him.
I just had to "sweeten" the textures, add some cracksn stuff until I was satisfied with the result.
Now we come to the tough part: the nebula - cant tell where I started, guess I had this bright spot in the middle and worked my way around it.
Creating a starfield is still an "indomitable beast" to me. Im never satisfied with it, so basically after a while I give up and just leave it the way it is.
Suggestions / ideas or criticism appreciated :)

PS: Stay tuned for a wallpaper version soon ...

WOW - nothing else to say =P

PS: do you think you might still have a texture that you used for your buttom planet?

Love the nebula, though imo it does look more abstract than something you'd see in space.

Great composition, and very nice use of colors as well. Keep the creativeness going!

stay tuned for wallpaper? hell i can just rotate it this sucker.

well dont with this. although i must ssay i think your nebula would benefit from a little less contrast... maybe some lower opacity areas. The planet at the top right is very well done, props to the starwars geek ^_^

Not a big fan of the cracks in the planet.... just because I think of what the size of the planet itself and then how big the cracks must be... i can't even begin to think of how unrealistic that seems to me.

Great color with this piece, and good composition as well. The starfield was well done, not too overdone and not to subtle, and the nebula really leads my eyes around the piece to catch everything that you put into it.

ty for the +watch btw.

The planet with its cracks look great but you overdone the background effects to much, they over rule the hole image... I love your planet rings, it had some great details. You overdone the backgroud which makes it less good, think of it please...

Good work though, I aprieciate it that you worked on it hard and that you give credits to the pleople that own the planets, you may not believe it but some people just use them without credit them. I do prefer making planets myself though, you should try it to...

Keep going though and good luck! I see somthing bright in your future, lol sidekick :D

all awesome, although as said the nebula texture is a bit too rocky. Great lower planet, love the way it is in segments

The lower planet is really well done, but the whole nebula sand or something, not like gas at all

Oh mah goodness.
I absolutely love the colors.
The sort of feathery looking ribbons (sorry.. not familiar with these kinda terms) is a little distracting.. and while it will be boring if you simply make photo-realistic space pictures, perhaps these 'feathers' could be toned down so there would be more attention to the lights and the planets.
Still, I simply, simply love it.
